So I decided to make a lowbie Hunter alt to break the monotony of dailies and battleground.
I picked NE because I've never really played a NE past level 10 (Good occassion to try out Azuarc's leveling guide as well) and because I figured if I ever get her to 70, shadowmeld allow some rather cheap FD/SM/drink antics in Arenas.
I picked a woman because I think male NE look goofy. I don't usually play female character (75% male chars here), so I figured it was time for another mangina.
So I start going around shooting stuff. And I end up stealing a Druid's 'kill'. I got the hit first because a bow is faster then Wrath, but apparently we were targeting the same mob.
So that pisses him off. He starts yelling 'Hooker!', several times. I'm a bit annoyed that he'd resort to insults right away, and figure that since he's being an jerk, I don't feel bad about the steal. And I steal 2 more mobs (this time on purpose).
So he logs out. Create a toon called 'Hookerkiller' and start following me around, calling me names (all related to being a promiscous woman, some being rather more harsh the hooker), asking me how much I charge for my service, etc. I just ignore what he says and make my way to the Spider Caves... the spiders are the only mob in the newbie area that Aggro. Like an idiot he follows me, I'm level 3, he's level 1 so they aggro him and he ends up like so much spider food.
At this point, he exploids in a torrent of insult in /tell. This time I ignore him and keep on my way.
To be honest, I was pretty much amused at the situation. And knowing the frustration I obviously caused him with my little spider-stunt more then made up for his immature insults and behavior.
But then it dawned on me just how much of a negative impact this could have had if it had happened on a new female player instead of an internet tough guy like me. My amusement then became shock... that was a pretty bad escalation.
Granted, the newbie player probably wouldn't have dragged him to his death, but still, kill stealing by mistake (even more then once) is quite possible for a new player who doesn't quite understand what's happening. That could definitly have put off a new player from the game. In the end, I reported him. Not sure what happen there, but I hope he at least get a warning.
I can only imagine how bad it can get for real female players. Kudoes to you ladies for putting up with that stuff.
